Filamentous fungi Synthetic Biotechnology Group

Filamentous fungi synthetic biotechnology group focuses on the green biomanufacturing of pharmaceuticals using engineered filamentous fungi to achieve more efficient, economical and greener production. There are four main research themes:1) collection of fungi resources and genome mining of fungal natural products.2) understanding the biosynthetic mechanism of fungal natural products.3) development of synthetic biotechnology tools and strategies in industrial filamentous fungi strains.4) development of fungal cell factories for the production of important chemicals, including pharmaceuticals, pesticides and bio-based chemicals.

Microbial Synthesis Supporting Technologies Group

Through building the synthetic biology platform technologies, including enzyme engineering, structural biology, bioinformatics and computational biology, the Support Group works in collaboration with other groups within MME to better understand the microbial physiological and metabolic mechanisms and therefore the engineering and application of the microorganisms, to support the development of new biocatalysts, novel cell factories and practical biosynthetic technologies. The Group focuses its research on the following two areas, 1). Molecular enzyme engineering & novel biocatalytic transformation, 2). Elucidation of functional mechanisms and interaction networks of the key proteins or enzyme parts in microbial physiological and metabolic processes. The group adheres to problem-oriented studies, mutually supported basic and applied research to ultimately realize the green biomanufacturing of energy products, pharmaceuticals and bulk/fine chemicals.

Microbial Process Engineering Group

Facing the microbial manufacturing engineering center's industrial application needs in microbial high-value-added products and chemical energy fields, develop microalgae culture technology and photobioreactor system technology development, and realize the engineering amplification and industrialization of related research directions. The main research and development areas include high-yield microalgae breeding, high-efficiency culture technology, high-efficiency photoreactor design, post-processing deep processing technology and product application technology.
